Parity Vs Geth - Vote Now

Which do you prefer and why?

geth. because it has the clique consensus implemented to access Rinkeby testnet (or build your own private Ethereum-based enterprise network).

I used to run a node on my Mac by simply typing geth console on the cli. That's really easy

Geth needs extensive babysitting especially during synching. It really struggles to stay uptodate. So I prefer Parity!

@jedida this is really scary http://www.businessinsider.com/ethereum-price-parity-hack-bug-fork-2017-11

This is so very scary @shanzida. Its kind of like life has given Parity lemons to the tune of $162 million, and for sure making lemonade out of this may seem impossible. But all is not lost, Parity is working round the clock in an effort to bounce back - February this year they released node software, which has improved the speed of its ethereum client while adding a whole range of updates.

@jedida yup you are right.

I like parity because
With the pruning algorithm, hard drive usage won't grow exponentially. (On the short term this means you won't be adding 20+ Gigs every week to your chaindata folder.)

Cool browser-based GUI.

@shanzida Parity and others have suggested 'hard fork' to undo the hack.

I am still voting for geth! lol

I totally agree with you

Definitely Parity. It is much faster than Geth at doing the task. Apparently, it could do the same tasks in 12 hours that Geth completed in over 25 hours. It was when they were run on identical pieces of hardware. I must stress though, if you are hoping for a hassle free experience then you will be equally disappointed with Parity as you were with Geth.

Geth because it's the official one from the Ethereum Foundation.

Also, anyone heard of turbo-Geth?

The guy behind it gave a talk about turbo-geth at edcon 2018. It was really interesting even though I did not understand everything... XD

Never heard of turbo-geth, but the idea of optimizing Ethereum is intriguing.

Seems like some pretty out-there stuff though... I could see how some things might not be easily understood. Did you attend edcon 2018?

@afridylan I did not attend, but recordings of the event are available online.

Nice. Thanks for the link. Have you been to any similar conferences?

@afridylan Nope. I mostly listen to streams of conferences (like Devcon 3 last year). Who knows maybe I could go to devcon 4 this year?? 😄

You should! I'd imagine being there trumps listening to a stream. The obvious bonus being plenty of connection opportunities for a developer like yourself. 🙂
